EA brought its  EA Play event to the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles to show us what is next to come from them.

EA started the show with Battlefield V, and the announcement that their will be a battle royale mode included at launch.

EA and DICE are going back to World War II. Like Battlefield 1, its single-player campaign will be comprised of shorter War Stories that focus on specific aspects of the war. Multiplayer will see the introduction of playable female protagonists and–in a change from recent entries–dump the season pass model in favor of free post-launch maps and updates.

Battlefield V: PC, PS4, Xbox One | Release Date: October 19

Next up was EA Sports and FIFA 19,  The latest installment in the franchise arrives in September, and among the numerous changes in this year’s entry is its acquisition of the UEFA Champions League license. (the trophy was on stage).  FIFA 19 also includes a new chapter of The Journey starring recurring protagonist Alex Hunter, who will be chasing that cup.

As well, their showed off the already out World Cup mode, with the announcement that FIFA 18 is free to play right now for everyone.

FIFA 19: PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch | Release Date: September 28

Up next was Unravel 2, which focuses on the adventures of Yarny, a small, woollen toy. According to Developer Coldwood, this sequel will be a more upbeat affair than the original, with a slight shift away from puzzler and towards the platformer end of the spectrum. Yarny is more agile than before, and this is utilized in some of the story mode’s trickier sections. New to experience this time around is the addition of drop-in / drop-out co-op play.

Unravel 2: PS4, Xbox One, and PC | Release Date: June 9

One of the biggest announcements came next with the news of a new Star Wars game from Respawn, (that I hope makes it this time….1313) The game will be called Jedi Fallen Order. EA also announced a slate of new content coming to Star Wars Battlefront II  this year, the developer will introduce content based on the Clone Wars, including General Grevious, Count Dooku, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Anakin Skywalker as new playable characters.

The upcoming season of Battlefront II will focus heavily on this era, which takes place in between  “Attack of the Clones” and “Revenge of the Sith.”

DICE will also be adding the planet Geonosis, the world where the Clone Wars began. The developer describes it as “the largest level we have ever built” for the series.

Anthem is easily BioWare’s most ambitious, and most anticipated title. Focusing on the exploits of heavily armored freelancers in on a hostile alien planet, you’ll work together with other players online to take on dangerous missions while exploring the furthest reaches of the world.  EA did something a little different and brought on to stage BioWare’s Casey Hudson, Mark Darrah, and Cathleen Rootsaert answered Twitter questions about the game, focusing on the story. People will play characters known as Freelancers who must defend their civilization against some troubling disasters, including an approaching storm and a rivalry with a group of people known as the Dominion. Players will be able to choose from four pilot exosuits referred to as javelins, (which can be customized)  and embark on massive missions with friends around the open-world game. Also announced their will be a single player campaign.
